Polaritaville has evolved over the years and our latest version is now coming up on year two, supporting the Lakes Area Imagination Library.
The Library is an affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth to age five in participating communities within the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Republic of Ireland. 126 million free books were distributed by Imagination Libraries as of September 2019.
In February 2019, we partnered for the first time with the Lakes Area Imagination Library and Shorewood Pub in Detroit Lake, raising $6,500, enough to bring every child in Becker County under 5 years old a new book every month for the entire year.
Following up in 2020 with a boatload of prizes, ranging from a trip to Cabo (won by our own Heather Nelson) and a kayak from Scheels in Fargo, to a 30-bottle rum pull for bidders to purchase, the 2020 Polaritaville fundraiser brought in $6,485 February 7 at Shorewood Pub in Detroit Lakes.
Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, every eligible child in Becker County under 5 years old will receive a new book into 2021 through the Lakes Area Imagination Library.
